July?

OK seriously, where did the last six months go? July 1st... sitting here taking a few moments at work, even though I was planning on taking the day off... .We have important submittals to make, so of course I have to be in on the Friday of a long weekend, while no one will likely be on the other end to receive said submittals!

I've been on fire with the blogging these days I guess, looks like I hit 15 posts this month, I think I'm getting into the swing of things finally, and Jackie is providing all sorts of quality material to write about. Good times ahead this summer I'm sure. Alison and Jacqueline will be taking swimming lessons together at the YMCA this month, she certainly loves the water, so I am sure she will enjoy it.

Last night Alison and I got a rare night out with some co-workers and my brother. We spent a few hours enjoying some Guinness (Alison had Stella Artois) at the White Horse Tavern on Bridge Street. Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Lauren got to watch her while we were out, and everyone seemed to have a fun time while Mommy and Daddy were away.

I snapped a quick photo of the Freedom Tower, as we headed to the PATH station on the way home last night. They are really moving quickly now with steel up the 72nd floor. It also seems like a new floor of curtain wall is up every day. I was skeptical of the design, and all in all I wish they had opted to put back up what was destroyed, but the whole thing is going to look terrific when complete. The renderings don't do it justice, they seem cartoony. Up close with the sun setting, it looks magnificent. My wish is that they can have a topping out ceremony in time for the 10th anniversary this September, but I think that's probably a little too much to expect, they will be pretty close to the top by then though. Speaking of time flying, I can not believe it's been almost 10 years... hard to imagine it's been so long, I think because the events are seared in my mind so clearly, it feels like yesterday, but time has been relentlessly marching on.

Also, the sad realization that I will be traveling for work this month. I've been able to avoid this for the most part since the wedding, I think I've only made three trips to Denver since Sept. of '09, and have made no trips since the baby was born, but it looks like that will be coming to an end in a couple of weeks, I'll be out in Denver for 3 days the 11th, 12th, and 13th. I'm hoping I'll be able to get a tour of the construction work to date. When I was out there last it was just a huge hole in the ground. They have made so much progress, and I'm very excited to see it. I also of course, can not wait to share the pictures with this wonderful audience.
